Safety Stock

Safety stock is kept for two primary reasons: the risk inherent in an order being delivered late from the supplier and the risk of a customer purchasing more than you had forecasted for a time period. Safety stock sees you through to your next delivery cycle.

To drive the most accurate results at each inventory location, JustEnough performs safety stock calculations at the item/location level. This means that a location close to a supplier may have less safety stock while product that needs to clear customs may have higher safety stock levels.

Dynamic Safety Stock
JustEnough dynamically adjusts safety stock based on:

Forecasting
JustEnough changes safety stock based on a product’s forecast. For example, safety stock may be higher when a product is in season than when it’s not.
Supply and Demand
As supply and demand fluctuates, JustEnough recalculates safety stock levels of your products.

		Inventory Constraints Some of your suppliers may only let you order in palettes or cases while others may require minimum quantities to place an order. With JustEnough you can account for these types of constraints at an item/location level and adjusts your safety stock accordingly.

		Service Levels Set service levels for any level of your business, from product classifications or product hierarchy to customer tier or SKU level. JustEnough automatically calculates safety stock based on a product’s service level so that products with higher service levels also carry higher safety stock.

		Excess Stock Before any orders are created, you can calculate excess stock at the item/location level. Then let JustEnough discover any shortages in the supply chain and recommend where excess inventory should be redistributed. With JustEnough, you can see not just the quantity of excess stock but also how many days of excess inventory you have. From there, you may decide to run a promotion to get rid of the excess inventory.
